19242774 SA form of physical therapy that helps to reduce stress and pains, massage therapy has deep roots in a variety of cultures. When used in conjunction with chiropractic care, massage therapy can be especially beneficial. Learn more about each of the modalities to begin your journey towards pain management and relief.

Deep Tissue Massage

One of the biggest misconceptions of the deep tissue massage is that the pressure applied is painful and uncomfortable. This form of massage can be a bit uncomfortable, but is a relaxing experience that is often used to ease the pains of sports injuries and muscle strains.

Deep tissue massage involved focused pressure on strained areas, stretching tissue and muscles while breaking up adhesions or knots. Relieve sore muscles and combat whiplash – often associated with car accidents – for a healthier and more positive daily life.

Swedish Massage

The first form of massage therapy to reach the Western world, Swedish massage was developed in the 1800s. The technique includes five basic movements that work to increase circulation and relax the muscles. Oil is applied to smooth movements and firm pressure is used to break up knots and relieve aches and pains.

Depending on the amount of pain you are in or the type of discomfort you are experiencing, different techniques will be applied. Deep tissue massage typically provides more pressure than the Swedish massage and targets the deepest layers of muscles and tissues for chronic pains.
