Exploring The Waco TX Area: Magnolia Market

In 1950, two 120' high silos were built by the Brazos Valley Cotton Oil Company. After 1958, the Silos served as storage, ending this in the 1990's. Afterward, the Silos sat idly by until 2015. The original architects could never have imagined they created the foundation of a future endeavor that would bring Waco, Texas international recognition.

In 2013, Chip and Joanna Gaines became HGTV sensations with their hit show, Fixer Upper. In addition to transforming home renovation television, the Gaines purchased the Silos in downtown Waco and began a journey to reintroduce Waco to not only their fans, but also the world.

Magnolia Market at the Silos opened in October 2015. It immediately became a tourist destination for fans from across the United States and beyond. It is estimated the Magnolia Market in downtown Waco has 30,000 visitors each week. The complex is a Fixer-Upper fan's dream. Upon entering the market, visitors immediately feel the influences of Chip and Joanna. As you travel deeper into the store, you become entranced by how each element could transform your home.

Located near the main entrance of the complex is the Silos Baking Co. Inside the bakery, you will find a tasty assortment of cookies, pastries, pies, cupcakes, coffee, and drinks. As a little girl, Joanna learned the art of creating desserts with her family. The love she found in the kitchen has always stayed close to her heart. When planning the Silos, both Chip and Joanne decided a bakery would be a central part of the development project.

Chip and Joanna wanted the Silos to become more than just another shopping experience. From the onset, they wanted the Silos to become a destination to shop, tour, eat, relax, and socialize with others. In addition, they wanted to host community events for the public as well as being a private event venue. They have exceeded beyond their wildest dreams!

Realizing the economic importance of expanding services and positive influences in the business community, Magnolia Market has undertaken a project to grow its downtown location. This will enable other businesses to discover opportunities to expand services as tourism and customer volumes increase. That is why Chip and Joanna believe in giving back to the community.

Their most current television project is the biggest yet. The Magnolia Network is set to air in 2021. It's projected to reach an even larger national viewership while introducing the network's new shows loaded with down-home appeal. As it is stated on their website, "There are so many stories just waiting to be told. Stories that bring us together, that let us see things in a whole new light. Stories that connect us to our roots, and to one another." Fans are patiently waiting for the new network to air. They are also excited about the return of Fixer Upper with new episodes, renovations, decorations, and, of course, the antics of Chip.

Waco is proud to call Chip and Joanna Gaines members of our business community. Baylor University is proud to have both as graduates of their great university. The residents of Waco are proud to call each other friends and neighbors. When in Waco, a visit to Magnolia Market at the Silos is a must.
